Welcome to Hillcrest cottage, Ambleside in the Lake District

If you love the Lakes, or suspect you might develop a little crush after a first visit, we’d like to welcome you to Hillcrest Cottage, one of the cosiest spots in a region of world class beauty.

This delightful traditional stone Grade II listed Lakeland cottage is tucked away in one of the Lake District’s ‘best bits’; Ambleside Conservation Area, and handily placed for walking, climbing, trekking, boating, shopping and, after all that, relaxing at some of the excellent local bars and restaurants.

At its best in sunshine and in showers, winter or summer, Hillcrest Cottage offers a warm and comfortable Cumbrian welcome come rain or shine.

Hillcrest Cottage can be best described as cute, if not downright dinky.

The cosy sitting room has a traditional polished green slate floor which benefits from underfloor heating and when things get chilly there’s a fine old cast iron range with an open fire to warm your cockles. From the window seat you can watch the world go by with a glass of wine or a mug of hot tea, or relax on the sofa to watch the fire or catch up with your favourite TV programmes. {more about the accommodation}

Hillcrest Cottage is in the oldest part of Ambleside at the end of a pretty row of pristine white painted stone cottages. A stroll down Peggy Hill will take you into the centre of one of the Lake District’s most popular market towns where you’ll find plenty of good quality shops, pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.

If you’re visiting the Lakes to enjoy the spectacular scenery then some of the finest walks the district has to offer start from the front door of Hillcrest Cottage. The cottage is a particular favourite with honeymooners and anyone in love with the Lakes. {read more}
